My Story

My name is Trisha Coombs, and I reside in Prince George, BC, where I have been working as a professional hairstylist since 2006.  I am fortunate to have a loving and supportive fiancé, whom I love very much. Together we have been blessed with two beautiful children. As a family we enjoy spending our free time outdoors, boating, camping or spending time with our loved ones. 

I have always been fascinated with the medical field, but was unsure of where my journey into it would begin. My passion for birth work began to grow with my own experiences of childbirth, which were both attended by a wonderful midwife. The passion she expressed throughout my pregnancy, labor and delivery, and postpartum time inspired my desire and guided me into the beautiful world of birth work.

I am proud to call myself a Certified Birth Doula.

My Philosophy

Every woman who is about to embrace one of life's most magnificent moments - the birth of her child or children -  needs to feel supported and heard during this unique journey. Each woman is an individual, with a set complex needs that often extends outside the realm of medical care.  A woman should be provided individualized physical and emotional care, reassurance, and most importantly respect as she makes decisions pertaining to her birth experience.  As a mother brings new life into this world, she has forever opened her heart, and should cherish those memories for a life time. A Birth Doula's role is to hold the space for these memories to be created, by working with a woman and her partner to ensure the experience reflects her wishes.
